Ohio Kickboxing Promotions (OKP) in association with the International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) provides an outlet for athletes to compete in tournaments where skill and safety are priority #1.
"Points not Power" is the mantra of the IKF. Point Muay Thai (PMT) and Point Kickboxing (PKB) are semi-contact events where there are no knockouts allowed. Instead, skill and Technique are emphasized.
Semi-Contact enables you to get the necessary experience while minimizing injury before advancing to full contact. When ready, you can advance to our full contact events, and our pro circuit (if you choose).
In partnering with the IKF brand, Ohio Kickboxing Promotions enables fighters from all over the world to recognize that our promotion is more than just a local event; it’s an IKF Sanctioned event. This means the fighters who participate in our IKF Sanctioned events have legitimate records through a world-wide recognized sanctioning body, instead of just a local promotion.
It also validates championship bouts to ensure that fighters are truly competing against the best in their weight class to earn an IKF title.
A, B, C, and Novice Classes: We have implemented A, B, C, and Novice Classes to try and create a safer competition for everyone. This is not done in all divisions at this time ... only where we feel it is needed and/or requested. This is in an effort to keep events safe and fair, and with limited fighters. If you have the proven experience and skills and not an official record, you still may be able to fight in a higher class, but it must be approved in advance.
If a 4-person bracket does not state a class on the division and reads “OPEN,” it means the bout is for a belt (Novice is for a Cup).
A- Class OPEN – 21 Fights and Up – Belt
B- Class OPEN – 11-20 Fights – Belt
C- Class OPEN – 4- 10 Fights – Cup
NOVICE – Under 3 Fights – CUP
If your next fight is your 4th – You will need to go into C-Class OPEN or above. There will be an option to merge into another similar Class Division if you do not have an opponent as the tournament nears.
The reason the IKF does this is because when you have a fighter just breaking out of the Novice 0 to 3 fights’ range, they go into the Open Division to fight a fighter with an extensive record. This does not give the newer fighter a fair chance. This also poses potential safety risks to a younger fighter looking to progress in the sport.
Our format focuses on technical skill and point scoring, rather than full-contact power. We promote a safe environment for athletes of all ages. The men's division consists of men ages 18yrs - 39yrs.
Fighters are matched based on age, experience, skill level, and gender, ensuring fair competition. As with the men, our women's division is for women ages 18yrs - 39yrs.
We welcome fighters of all ages and experience levels, from beginners to advanced competitors. We include divisions for masters (40+), allowing older fighters to compete safely and competitively.
Age is the primary factor with weight as the secondary for juniors. These are defined as ages 17 and below (with divisions for 8-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-17).
Techniques must land in the designated striking area to score.

Now more than ever, we are in desperate need of having the ability to manage our emotions. With the meteoric rise in stress, anxiety, depression, suicide, and violence ... our mental health is in crisis. Ohio Kickboxing Promotions believes that by leveraging martial arts and its principles, we can exact change on a national level. We do this by providing a safe environment where individuals can practice the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical skills they have learned in their respective academies in a tournament designed to test their ability to manage their emotions.
Combat Control serves as a platform where martial artists can employ the principle of self-control as there are NO KNOCKOUTS ALLOWED! Competitors must be able to manage their emotions in a stressful situation, demonstrating skill and technique NOT uncontrolled reactions. Thereby exhibiting rational thought and self-control.
